About Ilaria Calussi

I am a systemic and integrative psychotherapist with extensive experience working with individuals and couples across the NHS and charitable organisations. My therapeutic approach integrates systemic, psychodynamic, and person-centred principles that are attachment-informed, grounded in a humanistic ethos that values empathy, collaboration, and curiosity.

Clients can expect a thoughtful, relational, and compassionate space where emotional experiences, relational dynamics, and developmental influences are explored with care. I tailor therapy to each person or relationship, taking into account the wider context of family, culture, and neurodiversity. Together, we work toward greater self-awareness, resilience, and more satisfying ways of connecting with others.

My work is inspired by the transformative potential of authentic connection and the strength people show even in deeply complex circumstances. I have a particular interest and specialism in relationship therapy, neurodivergence, LGBTQ+ couples and individuals, and developmental trauma. I have also supported parents and families navigating transitions, loss, and complex emotional patterns. My practice also includes supporting parents and families navigating transitions, identity, loss and complex emotional patterns.

I currently work as a Specialist Family and Systemic Psychotherapist within the NHS for a national service supporting autistic in-patients and their families. Alongside my clinical work, I am an Associate Lecturer for the Open University, contributing to the training and education of future practitioners. My approach is continually informed by ongoing professional development and clinical supervision.

My Therapeutic Philosophy: “Connection grows where understanding and compassion meet.”

My style is reflective, relational, and grounded in curiosity. I aim to create a safe and engaging space where understanding can deepen, and new ways of relating, to oneself and to others, can emerge.
