About Tonia Forster

I’m a UKCP and AFT Registered Family Therapist and Supervisor with over 30 years’ experience working with individuals, couples, and families. I’ve spent much of my career in the NHS, supporting people through emotional distress, relationship difficulties, and complex life experiences.

I offer a warm, thoughtful space where you can slow things down, make sense of what’s happening, and feel supported to find a way forward. I work with couples who may be feeling stuck, disconnected, or struggling with trust, conflict, or infidelity. I also work with families navigating parenting challenges, transitions, or the impact of anxiety, trauma, eating distress, or neurodiversity (including ASD and ADHD) including adult parent child struggles. Alongside this, I support individuals who want a space to explore their emotional wellbeing, relationships, or patterns that may be repeating in their lives.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and flexible. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, I work alongside you, drawing on systemic and relational approaches to understand your experiences in context — your relationships, your history, and what matters most to you. We go at your pace, focusing on what feels most important and manageable for you.

People often tell me they value feeling listened to, respected, and not judged. I aim to create a safe, reflective environment where difficult conversations can happen with care, and where change feels possible rather than pressured.

I support clients with relationship difficulties or trust repair, families navigating tension, transitions, or emotional strain, individuals looking to understand relational patterns, manage anxiety or low mood, or process life challenges, and anyone seeking a reflective space to explore concerns or ideas.

My guiding quotes:

“Change happens when people feel heard, respected, and understood.”

“Sometimes small but significant changes can lead to remarkable transformations.”

Alongside therapy, I’m also an experienced supervisor, supporting other therapists in their work. Whatever brings you to therapy, my priority is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported in finding your own way forward.
