About Mark Dalby

I have worked in NHS Child Mental Health Services for 20 years and with adults in private practice. As an individual, couples and family therapist, I am trained in providing family therapy supervision, have taught on the family therapy training course and have held leadership positions in the NHS. Before working in mental health services, I worked as a social worker with children and young people, a residential care worker with adults and an English teacher.

My therapeutic experiences have included supporting people with a variety of mental health difficulties. I can help with:

My therapeutic approach incorporates a broad range of systemic, social constructionist, narrative, solution-focused and evidence-based working methods. I am additionally trained in Attachment-Based Family Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and family therapy for anorexia and bulimia nervosa.

I aim to support the people I work with to make sense of the problems they are facing in the contexts of their histories, their current situations, and their relationships. I aim to pay particular attention to the different aspects of identity and how these inform people’s lived experiences. My approach is to develop a space in which people can feel safe enough to explore what is meaningful and significant for them, and work with them on their hopes, making changes and realising their goals.

Qualifications and Memberships include:

Masters Degree in Systemic Psychotherapy, Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust

Post Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy Supervision, Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust

Post Graduate Certificate in Child and Young Person Improving Access to  Psychological Therapies Supervision, Kings College London

Masters Degree in Social Work, Goldsmiths College, University of London
